Buying wood or coal in advance and preparing it properly can reduce costs and improve combustion quality.<\/p>\n<h2>Why improper storage is a problem<\/h2>\n<p>Fresh wood contains a lot of moisture and needs time to dry. Wet wood is difficult to light, burns at a lower temperature, produces more smoke and leaves more deposits in the chimney. This reduces efficiency and increases the risk of chimney contamination.<\/p>\n<p>Coal should also be protected against excessive moisture. Although it is less sensitive than wood, wet fuel is harder to use and may reduce the efficiency of the boiler.<\/p>\n<h2>How to store wood and coal<\/h2>\n<p>Wood should be stored in a dry, airy place, protected from rain but not closed tightly. Good ventilation is essential.
